PROJECT: Karlskoga Church, Karlskoga
ARCHITECT: Kerstin Åkerstedt, Arkitektur & Byggnadsvård, Örebro
SAMPLE AND COLORS ON LOCATION: Anna Rydén
COMPLETED: Fall 2016
The beauty and the serenity in a church is created in the interplay between physical and spiritual elements. Kasthall were involved in the renovation process of the 17th century Karlskoga Church at a very early stage to design a rug for the mid aisle and cross aisles respectively. Color temperature, light and ornamentation influenced the color selection, where thorough sampling led us to a reddish-brown tone, reminiscent of aged wine, for perfect harmony.
The solution we arrived at was 83 square meters of Häggå Special Greta.
A complex, yet harmonic creation whose vivacious character and timelessness transcends a clear, still humble atmosphere in the church space. Shuttled with a total of twelve threads of yarn, tightly wound, to achieve an even structure, the rug was installed and stretched on top of woolen felt to acquire optimal function.
