When Claesson Koivisto Rune decorated the hotel in Tokyo, Kasthall was commissioned to produce a Tatami rug for the hotel in two different colors - Amazing Grey and Sunset Red. By Japanese tradition, Tatami rugs are laid edge to edge to cover the entire floor space. A living space area is then measured according to the number of Tatami rugs that cover the floor, which have a standard dimension of 90 x 180 cm. Claesson Koivisto Rune was 2021 awarded Interior Designer of the Year Japan, for their interior design of Hotel K5. Same year two newly produced Tatami rugs, that mirrors the rugs in Hotel K5, was auctioned at the distinguished auction house Bukowskis along with other items produced for the hotel.
