Backing is an available manufacturing treatment of the underside of woven rugs only.
The underside is coated with an acrylate adhesive, to stabilize the rug and extend its life.
It is recommended for all woven rugs wider than 200 cm or larger than 6 m2 in area.
Atlas 500 Indigo
Atlas is a woven rug developed in close collaboration with Barber Osgerby. The design reflects a shared interest in allowing the loom’s inherent logic to guide form and surface. Constructed with a double-weft technique, the rug has a substantial feel with a surface defined by depth and tonal variation.
In Atlas, the warp threads remain visible within the weave — an uncommon feature that contributes texture and a subtle shift in light across the rug. The interplay between warp and weft gives it a layered character, where color is integrated deep into its structure.
Grounded and textural, Atlas is suited to architectural interiors where a strong material integrity and presence is central.
- Crafted in Sweden | Each rug is crafted individually at the Kasthall mill in Kinna, Sweden.
- Sustainable material approach | Use of natural fibres, recycled materials, and long product lifecycles supports a more responsible approach to textile design.
- Warranty | 10-year warranty for residential use of woven and tufted rugs.

Care Advice
Maintaining a woven, tufted, or wall-to-wall carpet from Kasthall is essential for preserving its appearance, durability, and long-term performance.
Regular vacuuming is the most effective, economical, and environmentally friendly method for everyday care, while removing dirt and stains helps prevent fiber wear and keeps colors looking fresh.
Light, solid-color rugs generally require more frequent attention than darker, patterned designs. Following appropriate maintenance routines, as seen in the Care and Cleaning guide, ensures that Kasthall rugs in both private and professional environments retain their shape, quality, and beauty for many years.
All Kasthall rugs are made from natural fibers, so slight variations in color, texture, and dimensions may occur between yarn batches.
